Bruno Banani Perfume: 3 Scents to Meet All Your Perfume Needs

The Bruno Banani fashion company uses the tagline, “Not For Everybody,” which I’ve always found a little bit odd. I guess they want to raise their high fashion status by giving the impression that they’re just too classy or cool for some people. I’m no marketing expert, but that doesn’t sound like the best way to draw in a large number of customers. In any case, the “Not For Everybody” slogan is just plain wrong, particularly when it comes to Bruno Banani perfume. If you’re interested in perfumes at all, Bruno Banani has what you need. In fact, their three top scents for women—Bruno Banani Woman, Magic Women, and Pure Woman—cover all the bases of any woman’s perfume needs.

Bruno Banani Woman, launched in 2001, was the first Bruno Banani Perfume. While it’s a very well-done scent, particularly as a first time release from a clothing company, I would guess that some women may consider this perfume to be a little bit strong and girly. Its top notes of sweet orange, water lily, and ivy, plus its lower notes of vanilla and peach, add up to a quintessentially sweet scent.

The underlying muskiness is fairly unconvincing as a counterbalancing ingredient for the sweetness. Although this scent is girly through and through, this is not to say that it’s only for young girls. After all, no matter what age you are, there are always occasions where it’s good to smell sweet, fruity, and bold.

Pure Woman is a more recent Bruno Banani perfume, created in 2007. It’s similar to Bruno Banani Woman in that it definitely errs on the side of fruitiness. The tangerine, peony, and mango are distinctly fruity elements, which, when combined with vanilla and amber, create a very feminine scent. It’s apparently targeted to the younger woman demographic, and I’d say it’s perfect for women in their late 20s through their 30s. That said, it’s fine for women of any age.

Some reviewers have found the fruitiness to be a bit overwhelming, but it’s one of those scents that catches your attention right away but does its real work as it unfolds over time. Of course, Bruno Banani perfumes are not known for their subtlety and complexity, and Pure Woman is no exception, but it makes up for this through all-around sweetness and femininity.

Magic Women is the newest Bruno Banani perfume. It was released in early 2009, and it has received by far the best reviews of the bunch. This scent is also fruity, but, setting aside the girly fruit tones of the past, this one instead opts for the robust fruity tones of Tyger melon, red berries, passionfruit, and wild strawberries. Underneath, musk and sandalwood give the fragrance a warmer center than the early Bruno Banani perfumes had.

Overall, it’s very cheerful. It’s not one of those scents that you would want to wear to a classy dinner, but who needs that? In reality, most of don’t go to too many classy dinners. It works best for the types of things we actually do, like going to work or going out for modest dinners.
