Little Black Dress Perfume: A Classy Perfume for a Fraction of the Cost

All perfume connoisseurs know that the price of a perfume means little. Sure, if you want to be able to tell people at parties to take a whiff of the latest Guerlain scent that you’re wearing, there’s a little bit of social value to high-end perfumes. But when it comes to the quality of the scent, it takes a real sensitive perfume insider’s nose to judge the difference between the high-end scents and the high-quality but lower priced scents. Avon’s Little Black Dress perfume is the perfect example of a scent that holds up in spite of its low price.

When the Little Black Dress perfume was first released in 2001, you may have seen a review or two that dismissed the fragrance as an unsophisticated concoction for the masses. But over the last 9 years, the perfume has only grown in popularity, due to great word of mouth. In the end, it doesn’t matter what the reviewers say. The most important thing is what we, the people who actually buy and wear perfume, think.

Little Black Dress is my personal favorite perfume from Avon. Its ingredients include top notes of coriander, ginger, apricot, cyclamen, and jasmine; middle notes of ylang-ylang, peony, and gardenia; and base notes of tonka bean, musk, sandalwood, and Japanese plum. The result is a creamy, warm, and slightly fruity perfume that is light, versatile, and subtle enough to be worn for practically any occasion.

It works if you want to apply it in the morning before work, but it’s also great to use for an evening outing. If you want to wear it on a date, it’s subtle enough that your date may not even be consciously aware that you’re wearing it. The scent starts moderately strong, but it softens pretty quickly into a nice, sustained, classy fragrance that takes hours to completely fade away.

Add up all these things, and you get a classy perfume that is perfect for women who have no need to show off or to use their perfume as a status symbol. If you’re not ashamed to tell people that the scent you’re wearing is from Avon, then there’s no reason not to try the Little Black Dress perfume. Plus, while it may not be the ideal scent for young women in their 20s, it would be good to have for occasions when you want to class things up. If you wear it, you’ll be able to impress boyfriends and grandmas all at the same time. Not many perfumes can do that.

Finally, the best thing about Avon’s Little Black Dress perfume is the price. It costs a fraction of the price of similar high-end perfumes, and it’s not significantly lower in quality. Again, if you have a particularly sensitive nose and you’ve spent a lot of time around expensive perfumes, you may be slightly turned off by this Avon scent. But for those of us who just want a nice, classy perfume to wear on any occasion, this one is perfect.
